Help me with length counter project with 89C8252

hello everybody

i am working onan length calculator project i am using 89c8252 could any body help in this regard i am calculating the length by measuring the rpm the length is .75 meters for 1 rpm

Use a rotary encoder ..
You can make one (old computer mouse), or buy one (rather expensive option) ..

Use a proximity or opto-coupler for measuring RPM and multiply by lenth.
