Hi all,

I wonder if one of you have a simple way to capture neat figures from Cadence simulation results (AWD waveform tool) ??

Also, regarding schematic capture, how can un-display all data of MOS transistors unless W and L? Or in general, how can i hide unwanted parameter from component on schematic in Virtuoso??

Thanks in advance,
Ahmad,

You can export the simalation data and display them using Matlab, then you can have neat Graph and edit them conveniently.

Hi

you can print to a file - make a postscript file.
then you can do whatever you want with it...including .pdf files.
for the not showing W/L go to Cadence options in ICFB) -> layers and uncheck the ones you don't want. in this moment I don't remember exacteley which color (layer) is fro W & L, but I am sure it is there!

regards,
m

you may take a snap shot by
1- opening terminal and writing the folowing command <xwd -out filename.xwd -frame>
this command is to take a snap shot and save it in filename.xwd.
2- just when you type this command and click on mouse the snap shot will be taken, so you can use <tap> key to remove terminal window and then click to take the shot.
3- open the file you made using gimp if you have to edit or to save it as jpeg or gif or whatever.

concerning the other problem, in the schematic window go to edit ->component display then choose the component by the mouse and then you can edit the data to be displayed or not.

To hide parameters from Schematic:
Edit > Component Display > Parameter > then select the component that you want to hide/show parameter..

This will apply on all similar instances from that component not only it.. So use it carefully.

Here is a way to take clear schematics snapshots from cadence without the need to change colors and all those problems:

Steps:

1-Download and extract the attached file (.cdsplotinit) and put it in ur home directory (i.e. in the: ~ directory). Or put it in the location from which you start the tools (this file has same run sequence as .cdsinit)

2-Open Cadence and zoom to the view that u want to capture (if possible, otherwise, you may be able to capture the whole schematic even if none visible in the current display).

3-choose Design->Plot->Submit.

4-In the window that appear select Viewing area in the plot part (that's in case of current view snapshot, don't do it if you want to capture the whole schematic) and then press Plot Options on the lower right corner.

5-In the plotter name select Encapsulated Post Script (will output .eps file openable with Acrobat reader) and in the lower part of the window u will find Send Plot Only To File select and write beside it the path for example:/home/ahmad/SerDes_L1_snapshot.eps and don't forget the .eps, then u can open the file easily with Adobe Reader (probable that it denies to open in Linux or old versions of Adobe Reader, so try to open it in Windows or update your Adobe Reader).

To capture from waveform window, use Wave Scan, and do:

File > Save as image > Use white background

Be sure that you use thick and dark line colours so that to have clear image..
