I doubt this, because in the given thread the user was successful with this solution. It seems to be proven.

--> show us your code and your simulation where we can see what happens.
Do you get some error information? --> show us.

What exact SD card do you use?

Turns out I do have the CMD8 working, I completely forgot that the 87 actually represents the end bit as well.

However I'd love more test data to validate this.

ATM this is all in simulation land. I'd like to model the eMMC before attempting to communicate.
