screw on PCB?

Hi, everyone.

I have a question of the screw on PCB. I want to put some screw holes on my PCB for fastening it on an enclosure. Can I put the thread on the PCB? Or can I use bolt/nut?

Should I use the major diameter, pitch diameter or minor diameter of the screw? For example, for the 4-40 screw, should I just use the 0.112" diameter for the holes on PCB?

Thanks.

screw on PCB?

Hi,
I dont think you can have threads on pcb as their thickness is so small.
Yes i think you should use screw or nut-bolt depending on your feasibility.
You can use major diameter of the screw for your pCB hole.

screw on PCB?

You can press a PEM nut into the PCB, however if it has PTH components on it you'll have the solder pins touching the case.

There are also plastic push in studs you can get, they screw to the enclosure then the PCB presses onto them, they have a locking tab to prevent it pulling off.
A much better option.

Look at **broken link removed** for inspiration.

Hi cyberrat,
Thanks for your reply.
I saw link which you have mentioned and also googled for images for pem nut but I want to see plastic push in stud for PCB. I google it but not find it as I never saw it.
Actually I want my pcb to tie with casing not using screws.
Again thanks for your kind reply.
