I read the chapter about photoreceiver design (ch. 14 by Mark Forbes) and was really disappointed. Considering the extremly high price you better spend your money on different textbooks about your favourite topics.

i don't think that dumbfrog's concept (inverters/transmission gates) will work, because they deliver a digital output signal. So you won't need an ADC.
MOS-FET capacitor
Can anyone give me some hints/links about the usage of MOSFETs as capacitor (Cap vs freq., Cap vs Voltage, bulk node modulation, noise coupling)?
