I have a question about the probe ends used for meter leads. I'm working on a project to make a probe adapter and was wondering if anyone knows what material is used to make the probe tip for meter leads? I was going to try and use SS finishing nails but I'm not sure I will be able to trust...
Is there some special way to initiate a voice call using AT commands for the SIM900? Using the ATD AT command followed by a phone number returns NO CARRIER. I have tried this on a SIM900 and SIM900D both with the same results. I've Telit modules in the past and for those you need to put the...
Does anyone know if the GPS NMEA 0183 covers sentence order? In other words is the sentence order (GGA,GSA,RMC, etc.) output in a consistent order from each GPS IC manufacturer? I'm writing a program to parse data from each sentence but I need to make sure the samples are all from the same...
It's not possible because even with just the battery connected you are not working with 3.7 volts. You are working at anywhere from 4.2 volts down to 3.4 volts (The GSM I believe shuts off if the voltage drops below this level) depending on the charge of the battery.
Problem solved. Looks like it was a power supply problem all along. The current burst when trying to register to the network was causing the voltage to drop just a little too much and shutting it down. It's amazing the difference of 4.0 and 4.1 on a power supply will make...LOL.
Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to stick with tantalum and go with a low ESR (18mOhm) 220uF 10V and see what kind of results I get. Again thank you.
I have a question for you more experienced people out there. I'm making a simple breakout board for a SimCom SIM900D GSM IC and the datasheet recommends a tantalum bypass capacitor of 100uF in parallel with a 0.1 uF ceramic. Instead of using a 100uF I'd actually like to use a cap of at least...
Thanks for the advice. Not sure what happened but I powered it up again a little while ago and now it works. I removed the wires several times and rewired the connections along with removing the Simcard several times and each time it powered up with no problems. Weird!!! I'm guessing I had...
Hi,
I'm working on a breakout pcb for the SIMCOM SIM900D GSM IC. It's a basic breakout with the decoupling caps, TVS and simcard holder (with corresponding resistors per the datasheet) populated on the board and is being powered by an external power supply. Without the simcard inserted...
