yeah you can make the matching in a wider band by using capacitive (open ckt) and an inductive stub (short ckt) in both the input and output match; this can be done by using a cross junction with the short ckt stub and the oen ckt stub on either side of the main RF line. You may have to do a...
Re: about inductor?
the inductor in the emitter is often used to provide degenerative feed back to the transistor and is also used to obtain a simultaneous impedance/Noise match
Hi
Since you are working at 10 GHz, it's required that the capacitor you intend to use has a higher self resonance frequency ; you can check the SRF of the capacitor from the data sheet or enquire from the manufacturer's website; for decoupling at 10 GHz and above it's better to avoid using...
inductor vs choke
an RF choke is essentially an Inductor which offers a high impedance at the frequency of operation; The RF choke thus offers a near open circuit to the RF signal and is the choke is thus used for biasing the circuit.
you can try out SMD baluns available from Mini circuits or Anaren; i think they will do the job for you ; you can also get a few samples for evaluation from their site
Well it's good that you yourself are satisfied that there is no error in the book! The thing is that using Gonzales's book can sometimes be confusing but if you have a smith chart with you and really work out the problems then you may find it easier to understand the matching part. Earlier ,I...
Re: Optimizing using @DS
While extracting equivalent circuit parameters, you have to match the s-parameters of the equivalent circuit to that of the measured data. You are right that there may be different sets of values for the equivalent circuit for which the S-parameters may be same...
i do not think it's possible to do harmonic balance analysis on a s2p file!
if you need to do harmonc balance you need the nonlinear/bias dependent model of the device in question and if the model parameters are available from the data sheet then those can be used in the generic nonlinear model...
Re: @DS simulation
ADS is a 2.5 D simulator and you cannot draw physically the 3-D structure in its layout editor; but while performing Momentum simulation, you can define the dielectric substrate parameters (Er, thickness, tand etc) substrate thickness by using the...
as every one else have said here the Band stop filter is a filter inverse to the Band pass filter and it stops a particular band of frequencies; The notch filter is a special case of a band pass filter with a sharp cut-off; these filters can be made electronically tunable and are mostly used in...
yeah i also feel getting samples from vendors would be a better idea; to start with you must establish contact (through mail preferred) with vendors like Richardson, Avnet , as they represent a host of companies in RF and Microwave; i myself have got samples of many active n passive components...
