Xilinx or @ltera?
well for some application Xilinx is good and for others its Altera. I have used Altera devices for some CDMA project where i felt some deficiencies on Alter. So its up to application.

oil change light?
are we focused ?
Q: What happen to Oil after 3000 miles ?
make a sensor that checks the transparency of oil
or
make a senson that checks the carbon contants in oil
Location of sensor
in the bolt that is pluged to oil reservoir below the engine
motor operation condition and specifications ??? tachometer is a good solution but some times its not suitable, like in case of low speed motors. Currents check is "the best" solution becase of response time.
1: cd-rom is not effeced by supplying 14.4volt
2: use 1F or atleast 1mF capacitor if u want to isolate noise
3: 7805 will heat up and cant provide 1amp constant current. if the thermal switch cut out the output of 7805 then .....

dymanic range why ?
1: noise contants are not the same
2: noise quantity is not the same
as u increase range u will lose high frequency components. can be used for vocal only. if u use it for music u can eleminate gitar...
for music u have to reduce to range. but by reducing range u will not...
240v ac rms
if u r using this thing for UPS or as replacement of AC 240 then keep in mind that output of inverter is not a sin wave, usually a square or triangular wave. Desigining a pure sin wave with output power of about 300 watts is quit difficult. a simple solution would be to design it...
