[SOLVED] reading negative DC voltage from converter with ADC

Is it still applicable to get +5V from -5V using the ICL7660? I'm asking this because in the datasheet they only mention converting positive voltages to negative voltages. I'm interested in converting from negative to positive voltages.

[SOLVED] reading negative DC voltage from converter with ADC

    So you're saying that "let's say I use a voltage divider as a sensor to output -5V from input of -100V then I use an inverting amplifier to get a positive 5V" ? - - - Updated - - - I'm using ADC of dsPIC30f4011, and LM358N op-amp. - - - Updated - - - I'm using ADC of dsPIC30f4011, and...

[SOLVED] reading negative DC voltage from converter with ADC

Hi y'all, I have a converter that is designed to output a -100V but now I find it challenging to read that on ADC. My first approach was to use an inverting amplifier with a gain of 1, the problem is that i'm not sure if the op-amp will be able to handle 100V because most of the amplifiers are...

    [SOLVED] direct PWM to MOSFET

Thanks y'all problem solved by decreasing the resistance.

    [SOLVED] direct PWM to MOSFET

Oh shoot!!!! for some reason I used a 270ohm resistor instead of a calculated 5.6 ohm resistor.. - - - Updated - - - I'm testing it on a vero board, i'm not sure but i think i can handle up to 3A if i'm not mistaken. I stand to be corrected!

    [SOLVED] direct PWM to MOSFET

I do have a gate driver circuit, i used the HCPL 3120 gate driver but the problem still persists. how much more current specifically? the HCPL that i'm using gives out 2A.

    [SOLVED] direct PWM to MOSFET

no, the first trace is the gate signal before i connect it to the mosfet, the second is after connecting it - - - Updated - - - i'm using IRFB4229Pbf

    [SOLVED] direct PWM to MOSFET

Hi y'all I'm trying to drive the MOSFET directly with the PWM. I generated a PWM signal using dspic30f4011 and because the MOSFET needs atleast 10V to switch on. I then used a MOSFET gate driver (HCPL 3120) to boost the voltage. I get a nice clean gate signal but immediately when i connect...

Voltage divider(as sensor) interfaced with DSPIC30F4011

Thanks FvM, the rail-to-rail op-amps solved the problem.

Voltage divider(as sensor) interfaced with DSPIC30F4011

if that's the case, that might be why such a huge voltage drop b'cos my voltage divider output resistance was calculated to be 22k.

Voltage divider(as sensor) interfaced with DSPIC30F4011

can you please explain, the thing i'm using power resistors with rating of 5W. do you think that might be the problem?

Voltage divider(as sensor) interfaced with DSPIC30F4011

Hi y'all, I have build 3 voltage divider circuits for sensing DC voltage, the output of this voltage dividers will then be fed to 3 analog channels of the dspic30f. the problem is once i interface the two circuits(voltage divider and dspic30f) the output voltage of 2 of the voltage dividers...
