Zerocross detection problems ( mains noise )

How about using software to even out noise ?
I mean, you use internal conter to time zerocrossing events and keep a tab on last, lets say 64 crossings. Since the noise has shifted them in random amount and direction from real moment, taking some kind of average could be enough to make you *predict* next zerocrossing and triger SCR by the prediction instead of actual zerocrossing signal...
