could any one give me the brif discription about

Y quantization is required follow to DCT?

With quantization, the compression is lossy. That mean s you can never get back the original image after quantization. In other words, it lowers the quality. However, you can get a higher compression ratio with the quantization.
 

By reducing the precision of the DCT transformed values using quantization, the number of bits needed to represent the image can be reduced substantially.
