i want to connect X-bee module to bread board to test it...so do i have to use FTDI Chip or i can connect X-BEE module directly to the bread board ?

hello,

do you have datasheet of your xbee module ?
mainly xbee module can be directly connected to a microcontroler
but the level can be TTL or CMOS 5V or 3,3V.
it depends also of your Micro ,powered in 5V or 3,3 or 3,6V.
you may have to adapt level by resistor diviseur or circuit for level
translator.
