Writing C code in MPLAB for PIC16F877A

I want to know whether it is possible to write C code in MPLAB for PIC16F877A ?

If it is possible can anybody tell me how to start with and compile the programs and the additional components necessary. Any reference for the above topic is also highly appriciated. Thanks.

Yes you can write C code in MPLAB. When you install MPLAB the lite version of HI-TECH C is also installed which is a C compiler.

When you install MPLAB the lite version of HI-TECH C is also installed which is a C compiler.

I dont think the HITECH C compiler will also be installed along with MPLAB.

you need to get and install the third third party C compiler separately.

The lite version of Hi-Tech is installed. You can check it by installing the latest MPLAB.

Hi,
Yes the LITE version is installed.
You can also use the CCS compiler in MPLAB.
Or you can use mikroC without using MPLAB.
