I've a PC with Windows XP Home Ed. and an ADSL modem. I have to share it with another PC with Linux (fedora core2). The two PCs are connected by a LAN.
I enable ICS function in Win XP but in Linux I cannot connect. How to configure Linux?
I tried to search in Google but every solution bring to an insuccess.

There someone who can help me?
NOTE: I can't connect my modem to Linux PC !!!

thx
Lollo

Hi,
You need to connect them through a Hub and a Router

Internet----modem - --Router |------PC
|
|------Linux Machine Connect to the Router

Buy a Linksys router and read the instruction, you will know how to do it.

My picture didn't align well !

There are 3 scenarios

a) buy a DSL router (easy!)
b) configure WinXP to forward packets from a local PC( or LAN) to internet (also easy)
c) configure Linux to forward packets from a local PC( or LAN) to internet (medium hard)

in case b) Linux will have its own LAN gateway assuming ethernet for example the WinXP machine and case c) is the inverse of roles

How tough are you in this era? If you are tough go to make Linux to forward packets and if beginer buy a DSL router which I am sure it has its own tutorial instructions how to do it.

djalli!

Remember the ethernet cable is different depend on each scenario: TP aor UTP

I can explain better my problem. My scenario is:

PC LINUX ---(ethernet)----->PC WINDOWS XP with USB ADSL MODEM ->
internet

I wouldn't change this connections, and i don't want to buy anything.
PC WINDOWS has ICS enabled.
How to configure PC linux (with ip 192.168.0.1) to go to internet?
I tried to set the gateway 192.168.0.1 in linux but without resuts

thx
Lollo
