widening bandwidth

Hi,

Can anyone advise on how i could improve the bandwidth of a microstrip fed rectangular patch antenna without the need to increase the dielectric thickness.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you
Wancai

You can try stack two rectangular patches a small distance apart to have double resonance, hence increase the bandwidth. The top patch having a size close to that of the bottom patch, will have a resonant frequency close to but different from that of the bottom one.

Best Regards,
kevin

First,
could you describe the substrate of the MPA?

Some methods can be used for your antenna.
1. Using chip resistor loading
2. using differenct shape of patch.
3. changing the structure of feeding.
4.Using another substrate of lossy medium.
good luck :D

i think the most efficient solution is to use a different shape of patch or different feed

using slot in the patch ,it may increase ur antenna bandwidth

E-shaped patch was founfd to increase bandwidth in a compact manner.

hi friend try to truncate the ground up to the lower edge of the patch by small distancei.e. ground up to lower limit minus small distance, try it
