For its high operating frequency, i think.

Hi..

USB 2.0 Max speed is given by USB Spec released by USB Forum. Earlier USB Speed was 12 Mb/s, and USB 2 claim that its 40 times faster and hence its value comes to 480.

Now if your question is how they got this value 480, it is their research outcome.
Now they are going to release USB 3 of the speed in the order of Gb/s.

Hope it helps

Thanks

USB 3 is 10 times more speed then USB 2. It can reach up 4.8 Gbps. USB 3 Spec is expected to appear in 2008.
