ADS or SPECTRE

I hope to learn RFIC design.
First I use Hspice to simulate LNA.
But then I find Hspice is not enough for unlinear circuits.
As far as I know, both ADS and SPECTRE can do for that kind of simulation.
But what is their differences for RFIC design?
I haven't learn to use them.
Hope to get some clue before starting.

Thanks!

@DS or SPECTRE

Spectre: more accurate
ADS: more function and power.

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

i choose ads

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

learn both of them , they r both great

@DS or SPECTRE

I don't think that HSPICE is not accurate enough for non-linear circuits.
You could use Transient analysis.

Or, choose the RF product.

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

Oh, as I experienced, the ADS is mainly for board level, though it could deal with integrated circuit, but no example in their training manual. And I find that I have to use balun for every sbcircuit I want to simulate while i'd rather know about the dual output and input results and put them together at the end.
I don't have RF Hspice.

Nickwang,
how could the Transient analysis show results of non-linear circuits like noise of mixers or so? Could you say a little more about that? I really wanna know.
Thanks!

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

I think the spectre is more suite for RFIC sim,ADS more suite for board level sim.

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

hi

ads frequency domain analysis is stronger and spectre transient analysis good...combination of this tool good for RFIC design.

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

what is the SPECTRE ... and is it better or ADS .. sorry .. i mean which is simpler and more efficietn at the same time .. thank you

Re: ADS or SPECTRE

ADS is good at system simulation
spetreRF is suit for accurate transistor level simulation

@DS or SPECTRE

R_F_D_E + spec_tre is the best choice for RF design,
but the Hspice is the most accurate.

@DS or SPECTRE

well i'm using ads anyway
