Which configuration is suitable for electronics engineering

What is the recommended laptop configuration to buy for an electronics engineering student who wants to do lots of simulation experiments

I think any decent computers will do for degree level courses. I used compaq cq40 series for tools like modelsim, multisim, quartus 2, ltspice, matlab and many other tools and it worked like a charm, just make sure the ram is more than 4gb for 64bit OS. Unless you are into research and requires to collect a huge amount of data then you will definitely need expensive system.

Any schematic building software ,in other words any circuit building software like orcad or pspice.Also the must have software as u said depends on what requirement u have.Once you start doing your simulations and hardware realisations etc you will get to know what kinda softwares you specifically need.
Personally I feel for schematic and pcb layout try installing orcad or any other student friendly software for the same functionality(Google it).
Also for simulation purpose use Proteus software which combines circuit with code simulation.Also for digital signal processing related studies install Matlab software.
