transfer gate ?
receive gate ?
where?

If you want to limit current you should put a series resistor after the transfer gate.

Hope this answers your question

If it is a high frequency or a signal with sharp rise/fall time you might be adding a series resistor for termination. In this case as well the location is near the transmitter.
