I think E-plane and H-plane are the two primary cuts of the patterns. They are dependent upon what type of an antenna is and how it is oriented. It makes it difficult for IE3D to implement it because IE3D is a general tool for all types of antennas. Even for the same antenna, depending upon how you orient it, you may have to adjust the defintions of E-plane and H-plane. That is why we can't define it for users. Users have to decide which one is E-plane. Same is true for co-pol and cross-pol. Internallly, we don;t know and we only define E-theta and E-phi. The user has to decide which one is co-pol and which one is cross-pol. Regards.
