Whats the difference between liberty (.lib) and standard delay format (.sdf)?

Whats the difference between liberty (.lib) and standard delay format (.sdf)?
Both of them contain the timing information of the design, right?

.lib is the outcome of the standard cell characterization. it has NO design information.
.sdf is the outcome of the chip implementation, it has design information.

To clarify, .sdf is the delay characterization of the design. It gets used to annotate the design information, which is captured in another format.

Yes, for the full story you need a netlist + SDF file.
