ISP&ICSP

hi,all,
i don't know the difference between ISP(In System Porgramme,AT89S51 has) and ICSP(In-Circuit Serial Progamming,PIC has).who can explain it?Thnaks in advance.

ISP&ICSP

ISP use minimum 3 line
1 SDI Serial Data In
2 SDO Serial Data Out
3 SCK Serial Clock
ECT (TMS+RESET+INTERUPT)
ICSP use minimum 2 line or 3 line
1 PGC Programing Clock
2 PGD Programing Data (Bi-Directions)
May use (PIC) 3 (RESET or Programming mode)

(ICSP™) Guide

WHAT IS IN-CIRCUIT SERIAL
PROGRAMMING (ICSP)?
In-System Programming (ISP) is a technique where a
programmable device is programmed after the device
is placed in a circuit board.
In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) is an enhanced
ISP technique implemented in Microchip’s PICmicro®
One-Time-Programmable (OTP) and FLASH RISC
microcontrollers (MCU). Use of only two I/O pins to
serially input and output data makes ICSP easy to use
and less intrusive on the normal operation of the MCU.
Because they can accommodate rapid code changes
in a manufacturing line, PICmicro OTP and FLASH
MCUs offer tremendous flexibility, reduce development
time and manufacturing cycles, and improve time to
market.
In-Circuit Serial Programming enhances the flexibility
of the PICmicro even further.

In-Circuit Serial Programming and ICSP are trademarks of Microchip Technology Inc. SQTP is a service mark of Microchip Technology Inc.
