A gate is called sequential if this gate received a signal to capture the data on data pin.

My basic understanding of sequential is that it works with edge sensitive.
Combo is not.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

your assumption might not suit for latch case ,where a latch is level sensitive and also a
"sequential element"
 

Nope. Its not necessary tht sequential ckts works with edge sensitive (pos or neg) only , it can be level sensitive too (latches) ...
