what voltage are analog and what voltages are digital ?

what voltage are analog and what voltages are digital ?

1) 220 Vac

2) 110 Vac

3) 24 Vac

4) 24 Vdc

5) 4 to 20 mA

6) 0 to 5 V

7) -5 V to +5V


etc. Are the above voltage levels , analog signals or digital signals ?

No offense, but how did you get to be Full Member level 5? This question makes no sense.
 

Voltages aren't analog/digital. Signals are.
If there are 2 states possible (low and high) for a signal, then that signal is digital.

So,when you say 220VAC, it on it's own doesn't really mean anything. But if you say 0 to 5 V, then you can say something.
If only 0V and 5V are possible for the signal, then the signal is digital (0V low, 5V high).
But if the voltage may vary and be any voltage between 0V and 5V, the signal is analog.

Difference between voltages and signals ?
 

Voltages are amplitudes of Signal and so It can not be used to differentiate the signal into any type

Signal is the math way of representing the variation of the voltage as a function of time

so why is the signal term used esp. in practicals ?

for e.g. : PLC provides the signal to VFD ...... why its not PLC provides the voltage to VFD ???

Though both contains voltage ......

A function f(t) is a signal. This function can be current or voltage or any other parameter against time if you want.

So one can speak of a signal for a voltage, IE. voltage signal.

1 to 3 is AC voltages (Sinusoidal)
4 is a constant voltage value thus DC
5 is a current within the given range
6 and 7 is voltages within that range

The word "to" in the given parameters denotes a range.

A digital signal will have two distinct LEVELS (words "or" and "and" will usually be used).

If we assume that the question is phrased wrong then 6 and 7 will most probably be the digital signals.
 

can we figure out with a DMM which one is signal and which one is voltage in an electrical or electronic cards & machine's panels ?
 

Rather use an oscilloscope to determine signals, you can't see your signal with a DMM.
