I have seen several of these antennas in our city and was wondering whether anyone can identify what this is, as per the attached pic ? Could it be some sort of direction calculator, similar to VOR ? What is the antenna used for ?
Thanks for the insight. Using search term "direction finding antennas" does indeed show several suppliers of these antennas. I am guessing that in our area they are used by vehicle tracking companies.
In the UK , the vehicle tracking system ("Tracker") use only 5 vertical dipoles (one central). I guess they swing the phases electronically to peak the signal in any one direction. From memory the CG use a much older system and use 13 dipoles.
