what should the lcd showing when 5V and GND are connected, but no data connection yet. mine showing
1st line: (nothing)
2nd line: (all pixels black)

i might burn my 2x16 lcd... just to confirm
i dont have a potentiometer, so, i just wire up Vee (lcd contrast pin) with 1k resistor. BUT i mistakenly connect the 1k resistor to Vcc(+5V), rather than GND. the lcd display nothing when it is connected to Vcc(5V).

Re: what should the lcd showing when only P.Supply are conne

connect VEE directly to ground no need for any resistance

Ur LCD is fine not burn yet

1st line: (all pixels black)
2nd line: (nothing)
