Im a newb having some issues with a circuit. Im creating a touch switch using this circuit here: https://www.paia.com/touchsw.htm The problem is that that the 4001 cmos chip has a vss and vdd pin that i do not see in this schematic. Does this mean that i do not need to connect these pins. And for that matter, precisely what is vss and vdd. I also see a v+ connection to pins 12 and 13 trough a 680k resistor, how does this differ from the cmos power supply. Thanks Alot and i apoligive for my newbiness.
vss is ground, and vdd is power. In the schematic, conncetions to power are implied, so yes, you must make connections to your power rails. It mentions in that article that anything from 5-18V should be acceptible. Most just use +5 for vdd and GND for vss.
This switch produces only a pulse of certain duration and short after you take your finger of the plate will go off too. So if you think that you will turn somethng on the answer is yes but only for a while.
Normally, a switch when touched once activates the output (ON) and when touched again disactivates the output (OFF).
Maybe you would prefer this option?
