I am trying to make an IR beam break detector and i am feeding 38.3KHZ PWM signal with 10us gap on output of tsop1838 i am getting 8.7 HZ signal. some says you should get 0V when receiving 38KHZ carrier signal.... how to get 0v on output pin ?

u should measure the voltage at output pin not the frequency. generate a 38khz frequency at 50% duty cycle from 555ic and feed it to a ir led so u get a ir light at 38 khz frequency. supply tsop1838 with power and place it before the ir led and test the output voltage at output pin. good luck
