What is the function of OSAL layer?

why do we require osal layer ....what is the need to go fr the osal layer?????can anyone pls explain and give the link where i can find info regarding this...

Hi,

OSAL refers to Operating system abstraction layer.
OSAL provides a better abstraction for the Applications and there by enhances the performance of the OS.

Migration to another OS is made easy using the OSAL.

Hi

As I understood OSAL is used as a defined interface layer to the OS so it will ease implementing your application using the OS if you are familiar with the Abstraction layer.
and it will ease the migration to other OS's having the same AL.
I This POSIX or part of it can be defined as an OSAL
