I want to know what is the function of the MMU in a processor, and which functions and adventages it bring to and embedded system.

Re: What is a MMU??

A MMU is a memory managment unit is sort of co-processor that handles memory BLOCKS .. You find this type of units on high end CPUs running a big OS and lots of tasks..On such architectures is necessary to divide the memory in PAGES or in segments .. and only load in fast memories from DISK what is needed at that moment . So the concept of page is related to mmu ..
