what is the DIGITAL CORRECTION in pipeline ADC

Now, I am learning to design PIPELINE ADC, but the principle of DIGITAL CORRECTION is so elusive for me. so I think sombody can recommand some data to make me understand what is DIGITAL CORRECTION and the principle of it.
