difference between uart and usart

please i want to know the difference between UART and USART

I know what each word stands for and also i know that they are used in serial communications

but what exactly the difference

thanks

A UART is asynchronous while a USART has synchronous modes as well.

For most practical purposes only the Asynchronous modes are useful unless you have a very specific application

UART stands universal asynchronous Receive and Transmit , ie here we used on TXD and RXd , But on USART is Synchronous one ie clock is also a must, ie data tranfer is synchronous with clock

The only case I saw use of sincronous comunication in practice, was at standard PS/2 Keyboard.

does anyone know any microcontroller were we can config. the USART for PS/2 ??? maybe an example?
