what is the difference between Mcps and Mbps?

You are going to have to be more specific on your intended reference. There is two primary topics, one related to communications, one related to processors.

Mcps, megacycles per second.
Mbps, megabits per second.

Just to add more confusion, there is Mops (mega-operations), Mflops (mega-floating point operations), Mips (mega-instructions), and Msps (mega-symbols).
