Hi

What is the difference between access point name (APN) and SSID . Is it same ? In the case of WLAN network I had found SSID and in the case of GPRS network I found APN name . What is mean by this ? Both are same ?

The AP name is intended for use where you have more than one AP deployed in a network and you want to manage them from a central point - the name just helps you distinguish which one you're talking to from the management station. The SSID differentiates one WLAN from another, so all AP and all devices attempting to connect to a specific WLAN must use the same SSID to enable effective roaming.
