hai
I am trying to replace some text messages from a .exe and another setup.exe.
I am new to this.
I am using the search function in the menu of that tool.
I am able to locate some text and replace. many others I am not able to find by search.
Any other hidden methods?
What is the best free tool for hex editing purpose?
thanks

Re: About HEX Editor!

The hex editor should be able to find ASCI strings ("ABC" = 0x41 0x42 0x43) and unicode strings ("ABC" = 0x41 0x00 0x42 0x00 0x43 0x00). Another possibility if you can't find the strings is that the exe file is packed. Then you need some special hacking tools to unpack the file.

Re: About HEX Editor!

You can try EDBIN.EXE
which can be downloaded from **broken link removed**
it is within MS-DOS Util.exe
It displays bytes in binary and ASCII, so you can easily identify characters ..

Re: About HEX Editor!

Hi,
The best way is open the file in emacs and search for the string you want to replace,
replace the string in overrite mode! Note that you can replace only the original text you
can not add more characters than in original text! Save the file.
I have done this sucessfully 1000 times... it works!
Hope this hepls!
