I want to know about this......

You can use your PC as an oscilloscope. The signal is connected to your sound card input and the waveform is displayed on your computer screen.

You can use free software like Visual Analyser for this. You can download the software here: https://www.sillanumsoft.org/

Visual Analyser has other functions as well e.g. it allows you to use your computer as a spectrum analyser or signal generator too.

is it need any special hardware?

i think it is purely software dependent one as you already have your sound card and your monitor

if you want to record em then you may need a new hardware

Practically you need an attenuator to increase the measurement range

Definitely otherwise you will burn the sound card at fist try !

what are the advantages and disadvantages over a oscilloscope..

Sound-cards has;
Very slow sampling rate (O'cope normally above 100M samples per second).
Bandwidth of signals is also lower (O'cope normally has above 10MHz)

But considering the price, sound-card o'cope is a very cheap alternative for o'copes
