What is ambient light current?

Hi Guys,

If any of you have read papers or journals by Dr.Khoman Phang which is related to optical preamplifer design, he stated there "Ambient light current". Can anyone brief me on this.

it seems that he means the current due to ambient light. for example in infrared photodiode a current will pass without any infrared light this is due to ambient light.
