what happend if i applied more torque than to the specifed diode module..

Dear all,

i am using diode module ..while assembly we are applying 11N/m torque for terminal screw tightening...but actual terminal torque in datasheet is 4-5N/m..

if we apply more torque than specified torque is there any chance to fail or damage happen to the diode module.... why bez i found some of the module are failing at initial power ON condition..
Please suggest mee...
 

Perhaps slight excess will not matter but you are applying double the force; the chip may get loose from the metal substrate and that will certainly cause early (infant death) failures. Best to keep it just below the recommended torque.

Both copper and aluminum are rather soft metals and deform easily. Applying excess force will NOT make a better contact for sure (assuming the original surfaces are rather smooth to start).
