PLL

What means PLL and what for is it used?
Someone told me that he used it for synchronisation in inverters.

Re: PLL

PLL - Phase locked loops.
It locks the phase and hence frequency of two signal. One a reference and other a generated signal. The reference is usually derived from a highly stable oscillator, so that the generated signal is also stable.
More ifor may be found in text books.

Re: PLL

PLL :phase Locked Loops

It consists of the following components
a)Phase detector
b)LPF(Low pass filter)
c)error amplifier
e)VCO(Voltage controlled oscillator)

The most important charecteristics are
lock in range
capture range
pull in time

The commonly used pll in discrete form
IC:NE/SE 565

Applications are:
1) Frequency Multiplication/Division
2)Frequency Translation
3)AM Detection
4)FM Demodulator
5)FSK DEmodulator

Re: PLL

The PLL allows you to insert a signal at the VCO so that you can modulate the carrier generated by the PLL. This is a type of FM modulator.

Re: PLL

Phase Locked Loop

Can lock phase (and frequency) and its important property is that it can change a frequency to voltage. So it is used in FM modulation and demodulation.

Re: PLL

you will find a lot of info about PLLs here

PLL

In this forum Ebook uoload download section You can get books on PLL. The name is PLL simulation

Re: PLL

Read attached file also.

Re: PLL

can someone give me an example???on simulink on demodulating a FM??
thx/......

PLL

To the answear of vickychand_2000, ther are more applications:

PM demodulation
DC Motor control
Lockin instrumentation
tracking filter
demodulation of digital techniques like Manchester, etc.
Carrier recovery

Re: PLL

PLL is used in high-speed Digital Applications where the stability of clocks and timing Circuits is highly needed

Re: PLL

dude kindly post link!!!!

PLL

PLL can be used for demodulating FM/FSK ... advantage of this method is no need for Carrier wave

Re: PLL

electronics_kumar
do you know how to make a PLL on the simulink???
with the use of the VCO....

Re: PLL

Check the attached file:

PLL

PLL means phased locked loop. nowadays vast majority of PLLs available in the market today . The charge pump PLL offers many advantages
over the classical voltage phase detector PLL including an infinite pull-in range and zero steady
state phase error. Furthermore, there is already a considerable amount of literature that discusses
features that are specific only to the voltage phase detector in great depth. By not focusing on
the classical voltage phase detector, there is more time to focus on other features of the PLL.
The charge pump PLL allows the use of a passive filter while still retaining the benefits of an
active filter with the voltage phase detector. Passive filters are generally recommended, because
they have the advantages of lower cost and no active devices to add noise. The exception to this
case is when the VCO tuning voltage needs to be higher than the charge pump can supply – in
this case, an active filter is necessary.
