Hello friends,

I would like to ask for your opinion about the Atmel AT91 ARM Thumb microcontroler family.

Is it a good chips? What's about the development tools. Chips price?

Best regards
dora

I've AT91RM9200. It is 200MIPS 180MHz and a lot of interface peripherals such as MMC/SD card, SDRAM controller, 2 UARTS etc... But I'm newbie on this chip.

Hi,
I also have the AT91RM9200. Pretty good chip and comes in a leaded housing so it's also good for homebrew projects. I don't have an actual price but I remember something about 12$ in higher quantities.
It has a lot of peripherals, e.g. 10/100MBit MAC and USB Host/Device.
You can use Linux development tools and there's also Embedded Linux available. Unfortunately it has some bugs so be careful

Hi BenKropp

Can you be little bit more specific about the development tools you are using?
What kind of bugs do you mean?

Thanks!
dora

Hi dora,
I'm using the gnu/linux toolchain.
Have a look here hxxp://www.arm.linux.org.uk/docs/
hxxp://www.aleph1.co.uk/armlinux/toolchain.html
The bugs you can find in the document doc6015.pdf at the Atmel homepage
