Hi,
I'm beginner.
I want to know what is the main specifications of a vhdl core
how can we write it?
is it possible to buy it?
how can we protect it?
which software tools are better to use for it?

Thank you

Re: what is vhdl core

A VHDL core mean a circuit or an ip described in VHDL.
Yes you can write and some design houses sell their cores as VHDL models.
There are a lot of protection methods and tool vendors.

Re: what is vhdl core

Hi,
Writing VHDL is simple for that u need to have some basics in it. read Volnei A. Pedroni's VHDL book.
Core is nothing but design code. For writing tis u need to have some basics. U can buy core or get from the tools if that ip core suits ur need means. Xilinx ISE all series provides some cores. Protecting Means??

Kiruba

Re: what is vhdl core

It just mean codes. **broken link removed** has a number of full VHDL programs and test benches. And the best part is that each program is accompanied by a fully interactive circuit that you can play around with.

Cheers!

Re: what is vhdl core

Any working code can be called a core.... Xilinx ISE has some inbult IP core such as memory controller,FIFO,multiplier etc
