Re: Types Of ASICS

Thnx
But about microcontrollers
Are they included in ASICs or not

Types Of ASICS

personally I don't think microcontrollers are ASICs as they are general-purpose devices, not application-specific.

Microcontrollers are application specific standard product or ASSP

Re: Types Of ASICS

Thnx to all
The replies were helpful

But know
what is the difference between ASIC & ASSP

Types Of ASICS

ASICs and ASSPs are based on the same design processes and manufacturing technologies. Both are custom-designed to address a specific application, the only difference being that an ASIC is designed and built to order for use by a specific company, while an ASSP is marketed to multiple customers.

Added after 5 minutes:

ASIC is designed to address a specific application. It is similar to an ASSP, except that an ASIC is designed and built to order for use by a specific company.
ASSP (application-specific standard part) is a custom-built integrated circuit (IC) designed to address a specific application, too. Similar to an application-specific integrated
circuit (ASIC), except that an ASSP is marketed to
multiple customers for inclusion in their products.
