Re: basic bluetooth

The answer to your first part of the question is YES Provided
Your desktop and the devices you are trying to connect are BT Enabled and not 802.11 or 802.12 or some other Wireless Standard.

You can get a working knowledge of the Bluetooth from Andrew S Tanenbaum's book on Advanced COmputer Networks or

electronics.howstuffworks.com/bluetooth.htm
http://www.staples.com/content/Article/A-B/Bluetooth.asp
http://www.embedded.com/internet/0007/0007ia1.htm
http://www.bluetoothnews.com/features/basics.htm

or you can go to bluetooth's home page on
www.bluetooth.com

Hope that helps
