Hello I have a Weller WRS1000 soldering station purchased from US and requires 120v.
The back side at the fuse writes, 120v 1.6A and inside the station there are already transformers to transform 120v to 24v and 12v.
So I think that I need a 200W transformer to bring it down from 240v to 120v.
In my area there are autotransformers available but they do not have a gnd connection. They connect with 2 wires to the plug and they output two wires to the station. Since the station has a ground cable which is connected to it's chassis, can I use a non grounded autotransformer and connect the mains gnd directly to the station?
Would that be better if I also connect the mains gnd to the transformer metal enclosure too?
