vhdl code--parity inserter

write a vhdl code for 4 bit parirty inserter circuit that takes 4 bit data,calculates even parity and insert parity bit at output line
 

I think the function is very simple it is
b3 xor (b2 xor (b1 xor b0))
 

Hi all ,
What about the general case when data is n bit width ? is there any formula ?
