Hi,

We are trying to build a VGA controller on a Nexys3 Spartan 6 FPGA. Initially we just wish to run the sample VGA example provided my Xilinx.
We tried building the base system in Xilinx XPS by adding a XPS TFT core. Generate Bitstream gave us an error
"ERROR:pack:2310 - Too many comps of type "RAMB16BWER" found to fit this device."

Please find the attached screenshot.

As the next ERROR explains, the design you are trying to build is too large for your FPGA. Specifically, it uses more 16K block RAMS than your device has.

You will need to use a bigger FPGA or a different design.
