Very long initialization time in Matlab R14

matlab long initialization

Hi

I see in Matlab 7 very long initialization time, up to 1 minute. I have toolbox cache enabled. In version 6.5.1 this time is about 2-3 secconds for my computer, also with toolbox cache enabled.

Messages after caching are almous the same:
Toolbox Path Cache read in 0.16 seconds.
MATLAB Path initialized in 0.28 seconds.
for both versions

Does anyone could give me answer how I can speed up initialization of my R14.

matlab takes too long to initialize

The same occured during my installation and at the first time I started R14.
the init takes a lot of time, especially if you have a lot of toolboxes installed 8) . However, drink a cup of coffee and wait till to the end of the initialization. The next time matlab will start in a few seconds.

But what I'm wondering is permanently instability of R14 (win version).

What's your machine?
I have R14 too, almost all toolboxes, Athlon XP2800+, 1GB RAM.
The initalization takes few seconds only.

I have Athlon XP 2000+ and 512MB/333, Half of the toolboxes instaled

Sometimes when I quit from Matlab without closing Help window, at the next startup I see this:

I don't know what is going on.

may be u didint installed it properly or u installed something like matlab web server..which do takes a lot of time.

try to uninstall ....matlab web server ..from the installed matlab software.

My Laptop need a few seconds to initialize matlab 7 with al the toolboxes.
It is a celeron 1.2G and 256 Ram. Matlab 6 and 6.5 needed more lime to initialize.

matlab taking lot of time initializing

Hi

I reinstalled Matlab and again initialization time was 1 minute. After this I installed Zone Alarm. Next time when I was starting Matlab, zone asked me do I permit Matlab to perform connection to DNS server. I dennied it and after this I have initialization time few seconds :lol:


By the way I didn't install web server, but thank you for sugestion.

initializing toolbox takes forever

I also havn't installed the matlab web server. Init time takes ~2s .

The same problem happens with me...I'm now using the Mathworks site article Why does MATLAB get stuck in the "Initializing" or "Busy" state or take a long time to start? - MATLAB & Simulink that discuss this problem and I hope it contains the answer...
