Hi,
I am trying to make a UWB pulse generator in Agilent Advanced Design System. the paper i have been working on is mentioned below. In this paper a pulse is generated by using a step recovery diode.
http://wcsp.eng.usf.edu/UWB_Testbed_Docs/RedRinging.pdf
I need to simulate the circuit using a impulse generator in time domain. Impulse of .3ns is fed at the input of Step recovery diode. SRD used in this work is Metallics MMD841. SRD should give a Gaussian pulse at the output. But the result i am getting is a pulse with a jitter in between. attached is the file for circuit and output of SRD.
in 2nd step i need to connect it with a short circuited stub to get a gaussian monocycle pulse. In the above mentioned paper, it is stated that the duration of the pulse is dependant on the length of transmission line. I am having problem in connecting a transmission line of reasonable length. One way is to calculate the S-parameter response of the circuit and then design a short circuited shunt stub using Smith software simulator. Can it be done in ADS.
Also i need to find the Power spectral density of the pulse generated as it needs to be checked either it is compatible with FCC emission mask or not.
Any help in this regard is much appreciated.
