Using tri-stable IO to replace N-ch open drain

Hi,

If N-ch open drain IO is not available, is it possible to replace it using normal tri-stable input/output IO to achieve the same function? Thanks.
 

If you are not going above the VDD rail, then setting
the "data" input to force low and using the "enable" for
the data, ought to work. Some more capacitance and
leakage, I suppose.
