Using GPS for model aircraft

i want to use a GPS system for an aircraft to detect it's direction of flight and it's geographical position.i want to process the GPS data with computer.
what unit should i search for?

Search for NMEA 0183 formate and messages.
also you can read Garmen GPS datasheets
There are some good essays on EDN circuitceller magazine
